There was lots of excitement in school this morning as we switched on as many devices as possible to help set a new Guinness world record “most viewers of a rolling numbers live stream”.
A few weeks ago Gill and Tom from TimesTables Rockstars 🎸 visited our school and filmed Mr Campbell’s class performing the special five times tables chant. The boys and girls were happy to see themselves on screen this morning and delighted that the new world record has been set at over 5000.
Today is National Numeracy Day and we are proud that our little school has been chosen to be part of this event…we would like to thank TimesTables Rockstars for involving our school. Keep rocking and rolling for National Numeracy Day 🎸

The Translink Safety Bus visited our school and the pupils in P6 and P7 had the opportunity to hear what Kevin and Paul from Translink had to say about keeping safe on the bus (and waiting for the bus). This was especially useful for children moving to secondary school in September who may not be familiar with travelling by bus. Thank you for visiting our school Translink!!

This week we have been keen little gardeners as we have planted some sunflower seeds. Mrs Preston read us a story called ‘Sam plants a Sunflower’ and we used this to help us with each step. The children have planted one seed each and we will watch over the next few weeks to see if we can see any little shoots starting to grow.
Each day we will choose a little helper to water and check our seeds.
We can’t wait to keep you posted if we see any growth but we know that we must have patience.
Last week we met for week 5 of Families Connect which was based around ‘Book Talk.’ We had lots of conversations about the importance of books and reading stories to our children. Our parents participated and told us about experiences they have at home in relation to story time and exploring books.
When the children joined us they spent some time with their Mummy reading some of the books on display. One child was enjoying the special story time so much he stayed behind with his Mummy to finish his book after the session had finished.
Thank you to those parents for their participation and commitment each week.
This morning we had 3 fluffy little visitors who came to meet us. 🐥🐥🐥 Torin’s Daddy Tom, brought in their chicks to let the boys and girls see and hold them. Torin taught us how we need to hold the chicks and told us about which ones will grow to be chickens or roosters. Did you know if a chick has furry feet, it is female?
Most children wanted to hold a chick and the they all did fantastic. One little chick kept trying to fly away but we managed to keep it safe. It even tried to climb up onto William’s shoulder!😁
A big thank you to Torin and his Daddy for bringing in the chicks and teaching us lots of new things. What a fantastic learning experience!
