Y5/6 had a great day yesterday visiting the three 'Giants of the Sperrins', created by artist Thomas Dambo.  The giants celebrate the geology, archaeology and heritage of the sperrins and embody past, present and future.
We have been extremely lucky to be chosen for this 5 week project and are looking forward to the next 4 weeks where we will be participating in lessons based around the arts and creating our own book.

We had lots of fun this week participating in lots of fun maths activities.

We went outside to make mathematical pictures in groups.  Check out our pictures.  There was a variety of masterpieces created, such as, a symmetrical pig, times tables and shapes.  Check out our photos.

We also thought of our favourite numbers and created posters on these where we had to think of different facts and sums associated with our chosen number.

We have had so much fun today in school dressed up as adjectives.  Check out all the fun activities we done today.

We participated in a live lesson with National Literacy trust this morning where we became pro quiz masters.

Rocket readers was especially fun today as we were able to talk to our younger partners about our chosen adjectives.

We visited nursery where we partnered up with a child and read them a story.  The nursery children really enjoyed this and the Y5/6s were all so good with them.

In numeracy we chose a variety of different sized books and measured the perimeter of them.  We then estimated the word count of our current AR book.

I wonder who will get our reading award tomorrow in our star of the week assembly?

Y5/6 thought about their favourite book characters and created a guess who game board.  We had to think of clues so that everyone in the school could try and guess who the characters were. It was tricky to make sure the clues weren’t too easy or too hard!  Everyone really enjoyed participating in this for World Book Day.

Can you guess them all?
