Today in school we celebrated world book day. We came dressed in our pyjamas and brought our favourite book. We thought we'd have some fun reading in strange places, so when the children heard the bells ringing they had to stop what they were doing, get under their table and read their book. We had lots of fun and have been making bookmarks in class to remind us which page we have read up to.
The year 3 and 4 children were getting prepared for world book day. They discussed their favourite books and the book which they have chosen to bring to school on World book day. Today in Mrs Kane's afternoon class, the children made personalised bookmarks to use tomorrow when reading their books.
Check out our latest half term disco photographs. Another successful P.T.A organised event. Thanks to everyone involved and to parents for your continued support.
Last week we read the story 'Oliver's fruit salad'. Our tummies were rumbling at the thought of eating the delicious, sweet fruit so we decided to make our own. First we created lists using commas, selecting the fruits we would like to put into the fruit salad. On Monday we made our fruit salad and enjoyed them together. We tried new fruits and looked forward to our favourite fruit- strawberries and bananas! We will post some photos soon of our delicious salads and our fantastic writing too.
The Y5-7 Shared Education Project got off to a flying start with Years 5-7 learning about fractions and decimals using lego. They also enjoyed building the tallest towers they could.
This week we had our first outdoor play session along with Mrs Kane's P1/2 children. We try to do this on a weekly basis as it helps to improve the transition for the nursery children whenever it comes to September. They really enjoyed playing alongside the older children and some even managed to find a familiar face. We will aim to do outdoor alongside Mrs Pollock's P2/3 class well on the alternate week.
Year 5/6 have had an incredibly busy week this week! We started off with some drumming practice with Ronan to perfect our performance piece for the show on Thursday. On Tuesday morning we had our STEM event at the Sollus centre, which you can read about in 'other news'. Then on Tuesday afternoon we had our first practice on stage at the Alley Theatre. Wednesday and Thursday were full days spent practising our dance on stage for the dress rehearsal on Thursday afternoon. We even managed to get a little maths revision fitted in in between dances on stage!! We got a real buzz being on stage with an audience of around 130 people. We have worked so hard for the show and now we can't wait for the big performance at 7pm tonight! The show is sold out! Hope to see you there! Here are some pictures from the last few days.
On Tuesday 20th February we had our latest Stem Aware maths event with Bready Jubilee PS and St Mary's Cloughcor. Our multiplication skills were challenged through games of 'Back 2 Back', 'Multiplication War' and 'Multiplication Bingo'. We thoroughly enjoyed having the chance to get to know more about our team mates from the other schools.
