Mr Henderson and Anne didn’t recognise any of the Year 1/2 children today when they arrived to school…how fab do they all look in their costumes?? Year 1/2 had a great day taking part in all our half term treats. Have a look at the photographs…Do you recognise anyone??
Year 6/7 had great fun this afternoon making some chocolate treats! We think we may have a few chefs in the future!
Today the nursery children had lots of fun dunking for apples and we also had a mini disco dancing to some music! The boys and girls looked fabulous in all of their costumes! 🕷🧙🏻♀️👻
Happy Halloween boys and girls and see you after your half term holidays.
Year 3 headed on their pedestrian walk in the village as they complete the Step out with Skooter Road Safety Programme. They stopped off at the school gate to investigate the road markings and safety barrier before heading in the direction of Church View. The children discussed with Miss Hicks about the best place to cross the road and everyone knew not to cross in between parked cars. We safely made it back to school ready to complete our road safety booklets.
This morning we welcomed members of the Royal British Legion to school for a special assembly to launch the Poppy Appeal this year. This was a great opportunity for the children to learn about the Poppy Appeal and ask questions to the members of The Royal Bristish Legion. Poppies and other poppy items will be available to purchase in school after half term with all money raised going to The Poppy Appeal 2022.
All of our Year 1 children received a gift from the Education Authority's Education Library Service and BookTrust NI.
Every child in Year 1 received a Time to Read pack. The pack this year contains the book "We're going to find the Monster" by Malorie Blackman and Dapo Adeola alongside some top tips for reading together, a colouring sheet, spot-the-difference and a QR code to watch the story being read out loud.
Research shows that a child who reads for pleasure will do better at school, even in subjects like maths. Not only that, but if a family read books together, it's a great way to bond, talk about the day, and have a lot of fun!
Thank you so much to Clayton from Fulton’s Pumpkin Patch for our pumpkin delivery today…our pumpkin decorating competition will be in full flow next week-let’s see which class will win the prize this year!!! Keep an eye next week for pictures of the finished products and who is the winner 🏅
Our excited Year 4’s headed to Gortin Glens as part of a school trip with our cluster schools, Donemana Primary School and St Michael’s Primary School (Donemana). When we arrived we met the other boys and girls from both schools and we were put into groups to complete a number of tasks.
These groups took part in a number of activities including finding wooden sculptures of animals, tree identification and making fireworks from leaves that had fallen from the trees nearby.
We finished off a great day when we got to play in the fantastic park.
Have a look at the pictures to see how much fun we had 😀.
Thank you to the team at Gortin Glens for a fantastic day.
