Our class has been so busy and we are so lucky to be involved in so many exciting events. Two lovely lads from the Nerve centre came to deliver an animation workshop with our class. We used the apps green screen and iMovie to create our own dumbo movie. It was such fun and we learnt loads. We were at an advantage from our last animation workshop and remembered lots of what we learnt and were able to apply it to this workshop.
Lucy visited our school and went round all the classrooms delivering a super fun workshop tailored to each age group. From food detectives, fit factor and smoke busters, to staying safe in the sun, she really did do a great job of covering it all. Staff and children learnt all about looking after their own health in school and at home.
check out our own crazy scientist!
On Tuesday it was our last day with the sweet project. We had a lovely celebration day where we showed off our boxercise skills and received certificates and prizes.
Everyone really enjoyed this experience and we are very lucky to have been part of it.
Miss Coulter has been blowing some paint bubbles with P3/4 ☺️Messy but lots and lots of fun!!
On Pancake Tuesday we decided to make our very own pancakes. Centra at Ballymaggory were very kind to donate pancakes to our whole school and we have eaten these already, however we decided to show the children how to make their own. We had lots of helpers to measure and pour the ingredients and of course lots of little tasters and flippers. I think you can see that they went down a treat!!!!!
Take a look at our Pancake related Literacy and Numeracy activities. Centra, Ballymagorry were extremely kind and donated pancakes and toppings to our whole school! A big thank you from our Year 1 children who thoroughly enjoyed their pancakes.
We recently had a special visitor to the school. Genevieve the Goat, from the Action Cancer charity, came to the school to talk about ways of keeping healthy.
Genevieve's tips for a fun and healthy way of life included:
- Eating five portions of fruit and vegetables every day;
- Drinking lots of water;
- Being healthy and active.

To celebrate World book day we made our very own bookmarks to use when reading our books at home or during guided reading. Our favourite time to read stories is at bedtime so we came to school wearing our pyjamas and brought along our favourite book to read.
Our Year 1 children are taking part in a 4 week programme of Relax kids. This has been a fantastic time for our children to unwind and focus simply on being relaxed and taking time out from a busy day. Here’s what our children have to say about it!
“We get to play fun games!”- Sarah
“You get to relax when the music plays.”- Melissa
”I like the lavender smell because it makes me feel happy.”- Max
