During P.E we have been busy learning numbers and colours. We used Numicon to match numerals to the shapes and then we matched colours using coloured objects. It was a competition between two teams, we had to work together and make sure we were paying attention so that we didn't miss our turn.

We had another lovely visit from Baby Joanna, this time she brought along her Mummy and her Daddy. We talked about how babies are vulnerable and need to be kept safe. The children were able to see the huge responsibility of being a parent and that babies should never be left alone (except when put to bed). Thank you Baby Joanna and your Mummy and Daddy for another lovely Roots of Empathy visit.

Year 7 were treated to an outing to Domino's Pizza in Strabane to have a go at their own pizza making. They got to see behind the scenes and even inside a fridge that could hold all the pupils in Year 7. They had a go at making pizza boxes and working the tills. One group had a pizza on the till that totalled £101.99!!! Finally they got down to business...making their own pizzas (yum yum). Everyone had a lovely morning and would like to thank the staff at Domino's Pizza for this wonderful opportunity.

On Friday we celebrated the beginning of Accelerated Reading in our school. Children in Year 5, 6 and 7 have been reading to earn points. This is a brilliant opportunity for our pupils to “accelerate their reading”. Well done to all the boys and girls who have made it onto our points board and received their raffle tickets to win a bar of chocolate. We are excited to see who has moved up the board this week. Keep reading everyone!

This week our session was all about the importance of praise.  We shared an interesting fact - with every 1 positive comment we give to our children we also give them 8 negative comments. It made us think about the types of praise that we give to our children on a daily basis. We talked about specific, genuine, focused on effort and without a sting in the tail. I hope all our parents who have taken part, are consciously thinking about the type of praise they are using at home with all their children. We all made 1 praise star to use at home and we also got to take home resources to make a star for every member of our family.
