The children in Mr Campbell’s class were very excited to welcome Baby Joanna and her mum for their first Roots of Empathy visit. This theme is called ‘Meet the Baby’. The children talked about what babies can and cannot do. They weighed and measured Baby Joanna. Everyone enjoyed meeting Baby Joanna and her Mummy Ashley.

We had our second visit with Baby Joanna and her Mum. Our theme is crying and we discussed why babies might cry. We also talked about the importance of being gentle with babies. The children sang some nursery rhymes to Baby Joanna and watched her on our special green blanket.
Year 5/6 treated pupils and parents to a lovely class assembly all about harvest. We all enjoyed what they had to say and their beautiful singing. Well done Mrs McClelland and Year 5/6 boys and girls.
Unfortunately due to the weather in June our school fun day had to be postponed to September. Thankfully the weather was beautiful and we had a great day together with the families and friends of Artigarvan Primary School. A big thank you to everyone to helped out on the day and to everyone who supported this event.
Our school choir were delighted to be asked to take part in the opening of the Wedding Dress Festival at Leckpatrick Presbyterian Church. The choir entertained the congregation with a few songs including ‘This Little Light of mine’ and ‘Shine Jesus Shine’. The choir then had a chance to look around the fabulous display of wedding dresses and enjoy some treats which were kindly provided by the organisers before returning to school.
During the month of September we have had a busy month learning lots of new things. Our little minds have been thinking a lot about all the new routines but we managing very well and settling into our new surroundings. We have made lots of new friends also.
Every Thursday, pupils will be increasing their problem solving skills through Investigative Maths. We started last week with the 'Magic V's'. The rules: the numbers 1 to 5 had to be put into the V shape so that the two arms of the V have the same total - without using the same number twice. This was extended to using the numbers 2-6. Lots of different strategies and methods were put into action during this lesson and all the boys and girls showed great determination!
Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 all had a ball on their end of year trip to Arena 7.
We played bowls and a game of laser tag which was a first for many and proved very enjoyable!
The day was finished with a delicious lunch.
The children represented Artigarvan PS so well as always.
Have a lovely summer everyone!
Well done to Roy in Year 4 as he received our cricket cup today in assembly. Mr Campbell very kindly presented Roy with his cup for all his effort at cricket this year. Congratulations to Roy!
