We started learning about length this week. Children are confident in estimating and measuring in centimetres and metres. We engaged in fun activities where we measured things in our classroom and parts of our body using rulers and tape measures. Today, we went outside to measure the length of some dinosaurs using trundle wheels. The largest one we measured was the ultrasaurus which was 30 metres long! Check out our photos.
What a fantastic effort that was made by our children, staff and parents today for World Book Day. The children were allowed to wear pyjamas or a book character costume and the effort put in was amazing.
Well done to each of you. π
Last Friday was a very exciting ‘Feel good Friday’ in school. We all had a scone and hot chocolate for break. It was also Christmas jumper day. We all paid £1 to wear our jumpers and all money is being donated to ‘Save the Children’. Some children even made their own Christmas jumpers.
We hope you enjoy our Christmas play! Sing along to all our songs π΅ππ§π
We have been learning how to calculate change in numeracy and today we played a fun version of the popular game monopoly. We worked in groups of 4 and the first person to reach 50 points won. Check out our winners! We have a very competitive bunch in year 5/6 π
Every Wednesday we go to Mrs Kane's classroom and we have great fun doing art with her.
We have been using lots of different materials to create a beautiful Autumn picture. To begin with, we talked about creating a pathway. We experimented with drawing the lines at different angles to achieve the correct look. Next we needed to draw a country house, full of lovely details such as windows and plants. Using chalks, we managed to create the look of a leafy path by smudging the colours together. Then using crayons we completed the sky and the house. By mixing autumn colours on a sponge we managed to achieve the look of autumn trees. Finally we added trees to the pathway, and their shadows using charcoal.
Take a look at our fabulous Autumn pictures, aren’t they amazing?
The boys and girls had lots of fun doing activities all week for this years ABW. We acted out various scenarios and role plays, complimented our peers, took part in a colouring in competition and wore our odd socks!

Y5/6 enjoyed this quick and effective art lesson today. We drew our squiggly lines for our ghosts with black marker then made up our own faces for them. We then used blue pencil to lightly highlight around the edges of our ghosts to create a 3D look. Don’t they look great !?
As our topic this term is ‘What’s the weather?’ We found out all about the water cycle and how rain is formed. We then went on to make our very own rain cloud in a jar. It was great fun. Check out the pictures!
This week we have enjoyed learning about the properties of 2D shapes. We made our own cartoon faces by drawing as many different shapes as we could think of. Check them out!
